Cantor Grows London Lev Finance Team

Senior managing director says firm is well-positioned to gain European market share.

Cantor Fitzgerald has expanded its leveraged finance group in London and could have as many as 10 leveraged finance professionals there by the end of the year, according to Martin Teevan, Cantor's senior managing director of high yield and distressed trading.

The financial services firm has added Jim Franz and Jack Czarnota from Citigroup as managing directors of European high yield sales and trading. The firm also brought on Stuart Levett from Credit Suisse as a managing director for loan sales and added a former Goldman Sachs trader as a trader for both loans and bonds.

Teevan said that more new hires are pending soon and that Cantor is in early negotiations with other leveraged finance executives. He expects to have the team up to 10 people by the end of the year and said that the firm is well-positioned to capture market share in Europe.

The New York-based firm is undergoing a large expansion of its London office and could hire as many as 100 new staff there by the end of the year. Cantor has been building out its leveraged finance group in the U.S. since last year, and is in the midst of rapid firm-wide growth.
