Astier worked on high-profile deals such as the 2007 First Data financing
January 14, 2010
Barclays Capital has appointed Lehman Brothers veteran Jean-Francois Astier as its head of leveraged finance for the Americas, the firm said. Astier will work with client coverage bankers helping speculative-grade companies and sponsors with financing.
Astier is based in New York and reports to Joe McGrath, head of global leveraged finance. He had been a part of the Lehman Brothers leveraged finance group since 2004. He began his career at Lehman in 1993 with the leveraged group but later worked for London-based venture capital firm Continuum Group from 2000 to 2004. While at Lehman, Astier worked on high-profile deals such as the 2007 First Data financing.
Astier succeeds McGrath, who was head of leveraged finance for the Americas from September 2008 to September 2009, when he became head of the global leveraged business. McGrath reports to Larry Weiseneck, who oversees Barclays financing group within the investment banking division.
