Sources say she has left the firm to work for Wachovia in a similar role.
January 24, 2008
Deirdre Martini, former bankruptcy trustee for the Southern District of New York who worked on the Dana Corp. and Delta Airlines bankruptcies, has left CIT Group, where she was a managing director and senior restructuring advisor since 2006.
Sources say she has left the firm to work for Wachovia in a similar role.
A press officer with CIT confirmed her departure but had no further comment. A press officer with Wachovia could not immediately confirm Martini's new role at the Charlotte, N.C., banking giant.
From October 2003 to April 2006 Martini served as US Trustee and oversaw the administration of some of the most notable bankruptcy cases in recent years. In addition to the Dana and Delta cases she oversaw the Delphi, Northwest Airlines and Refco bankruptcies.
Prior to her appointment as bankruptcy trustee, Martini chaired the restructuring practice at Ivey, Barnum & O'Mara. From 1988 to 1999, Martini was an assistant US attorney for the district of Connecticut, representing federal agencies in the bankruptcy court and prosecuting bankruptcy crimes.
Martini studied law at the Quinnipiac School of Law and has a BA from New York University.
