Paris, a former Deutsche leveraged finance banker, is latest in string of hires for Barclays Capital.

Barclays Capital said on Wednesday it named James Paris as a managing director and head of paper and packaging industries in its investment banking division.

Paris, most recently a managing director in the leveraged finance group at Deutsche Bank, will be based in New York.

In recent months, Barclays Capital has expanded its investment banking coverage of major industry sectors with the addition of several senior professionals in major product areas such as debt, equity and M&A.  In addition to paper and packaging, the firm has recently expanded its coverage of the power, healthcare, retail and industrials sectors.

Yesterday, the firm announced it hired Thomas Rosén as a managing director on its power sector team. On Monday, Barclays publicized the appointment of Trace McCreary as head of US infrastructure finance.

"Expanding our investment banking sector coverage is a central component of our Americas growth strategy," Jim Glascott, head of investment banking and debt capital markets for Barclays in the Americas, said in a prepared statement.

At Deutsche, Paris focused on the origination, execution and structuring of leveraged financing transactions for financial sponsors and corporate clients in the paper and packaging sectors.
