Hedge Fund GLG Hires Merrill Portfolio Manager
Touwen worked for five years at Merrill as a portfolio manager and director of the global strategic risk group.

Hedge-fund group GLG Partners said Friday it has hired Warren Touwen from Merrill Lynch as a portfolio manager in its London office.
Touwen will work with portfolio managers for the GLG Espirit Fund, Simon Savage and Peter Harnett, and his responsibilities include expanding GLGs global alpha capture capabilities. He will join GLG in July.
Touwen worked for five years at Merrill as a portfolio manager and director of the global strategic risk group. He was responsible for creating, implementing and running multiple market neutral portfolios in Europe, North America, Asia Pacific and Japan. He also implemented Merrills first fully automated alpha capture model.
Prior to Merrill, he held positions at Nomura International and Sungard. He also held positions in South Africa in trading, systems development, equity derivative sales and equity finance.
GLG was founded in 1995, and has more than $24 billion in assets under management.
