Barclays Capital named Jim Glascott as its new head of debt capital markets and investment banking for the Americas, a company spokesman confirmed with IDD Tuesday.
Glascott replaces Peter Goettler, who is retiring from the bank and the industry for personal reasons.
Glascott, who will report to Barclays Capital CEO Robert Diamond, joined BarCap in 2001. Prior to that he spent 14 years at Morgan Stanley, where he was a managing director, responsible for the utility, energy and industrial new issue business as well as medium-term note and commercial paper origination.
Barclays also said Steve Feinstein assumes Glascott's title as head of US debt capital markets origination, a role that has him reporting to Glascott.
Goettler joined Barclays in July 2001 as head of US debt capital markets and in March 2002 he assumed the additional role of head of US investment banking in the Americas. He came to Barclays from Deutsche Bank, where he was its North American head of global debt origination.
