Covered bonds, touted as a potential panacea to housing market troubles and a viable alternative to securitization by U.S. regulators last summer, still have not taken off on this side of the Atlantic. Jerry Marlatt, a covered bond and securitization attorney who recently joined Morrison & Foerster, spoke with IDD about why a robust market for the asset class in North America is still a possibility.
