At a time when many large banks have cut back on their staff or are considering a retreat from certain areas of investment banking, Japanese financial-services giant Mitsubishi UFJ Securities is actually looking to broaden its presence. Mitsubishi UFJ Securities is the investment banking subsidiary of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group -- a banking giant that is the result of a series of mega-mergers over the last two decades. Joseph Schmuckler, chief executive officer, and Tsutomu Tanaka, senior managing director, spoke with IDD on the eve of the recent IMF meeting in Washington, DC.
